QUANG (23) is a fun homosexual with a qUiRkY sense of fashion, but whenever he goes back home in a quiet mountainous province in the north of Vietnam, he would dress down. At home, his sister, MAI (32) has difficulty differentiating between reality and visions. While Quang thinks of Mai as a force of creativity, their mother, CUC (55) sees the two divergent children as her karmic debt. All she ever wants is a traditional family with grandchildren to continue the lineage, but the dream seems so distant with her son being queer and her daughter mentally ill. Out of the blue, Mai gets pregnant. The three find themselves unprepared to become the grandmother, the mom, and the uncle. QUANG realizes that the new cycle of motherhood will change his family forever, so he picks up his camera and starts making a time capsule—this very film. He documents how the trio prepares to raise the baby and opens a portal to the past through their diaries. Will they be able to learn to understand and accept each other through this process?
